Paola Arellano Toro
Executive Director of REUNA, Chile
She has a master's degree in Business Administration and Management (MBA) from the University of Chile, and a degree in process in Industrial Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She is a professional with more than 15 years of experience in business management and 20 years in project management in Chile and at international level. During her professional career, she has actively participated in research and innovation projects for various areas of science and academia, a great part of them were initiatives financed by the EU Framework Programs, as well as by different Chilean government agencies. Some of these projects include BELLA, MAGIC, EELA, EELA 2, GISELA, ELLA, ALICE, and ALICE 2, among others.
In 2005, she assumed the Executive Directorate of the National Research and Education Network of Chile, REUNA, facing the challenge of strengthening the use of advanced technologies and networks for the development of science, innovation and higher education in the country and the consolidation of REUNA, which today has the active participation of the best Chilean universities, the main astronomical observatories, important research centres and other organizations linked to the R&E ecosystem.
